THIS IS
ROYCE STUDIO

Q: How long have you been taking photos?
A: A darn long time. I learned on film, like before the hipster revival of film. I'm one of those lucky souls that figured out pretty quickly in college what I wanted to do for a career and 4 years later was handed a piece of paper that said I knew how. There's still tons to learn because photography is ever changing and styles aren't stagnant. But thankfully there's those tough days in the darkroom to remind me that it could always be harder...

Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: The food. Oh, and the chance to be invited along for clients' most memorable days. I don't take for granted the connections I get to make in those moments or my responsibility to honor those moments with honest, timeless images

MY SPECIALTY

AWKWARD IS MY SPECIALTY

Here's what happens when you try to look as lovely as the brides during your engagement shoots but are only good at being weird. Thank goodness for a loving husband and an understanding photographer friend. I love working with uncomfortable subjects, because I've spent years perfecting the art of awkward.

& ITS GENETIC

At least we can say we tried to get a "nice family photo". We are better at falling down, telling lame jokes, and getting lost than we are at being models. But we know who is in our really odd tribe.

MEET THE FAMILY

THOSE POOR SOULS I LIVE WITH

My husband has been keeping my books and grammer straight since I started this company, so he very much a part of the mess, I mean magic of it.

When we manage to slip away for a real date my first choice is tennis or a bike ride. His is to go flying in a tiny airplane. Mine requires less skill and fuel.

Somehow the Lord has entrusted three humans to our care. Three boys means there are a lot of fart jokes, wrestling, wild story telling, lego creating, snacking, and occasional cuddling going on.
